The City of Palm Coast City Council will hold a Special Workshop Meeting on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. The meeting will take place in the Community Wing of City Hall at 160 Lake Avenue. The primary purpose of this special meeting is to discuss legal service options for the City of Palm Coast. The need for this discussion arises from the recent decision of the current City Attorney to accept a position in a different professional capacity. The City Council is committed to continuity of coverage to maintain the appropriate level of service for the City of Palm Coast.

During the meeting, the City Council will consider various options to determine the most suitable course of action. The available options include continuing with the services of the existing firm, Garganese Weiss D’Agresta & Salzman, PA., initiating a bidding process to select a new legal services firm through a competitive and transparent process, or exploring the possibility of hiring in-house legal counsel for the City.

At the City of Palm Coast, the City Attorney is hired by the City Council and serves as the chief legal advisor to the city, providing legal counsel and representation to the city council, city manager, and various municipal departments.

The City Council recognizes the importance of these decisions and is committed to thoroughly evaluating each option in order to make an informed choice that aligns with the best interests of the City of Palm Coast and its residents.

Public Comments will be opened at the beginning and end of the meeting in accordance with Section 286.0114 Florida Statutes and pursuant to the City Council’s Meeting Policies and Procedures. Each speaker will approach the podium, provide his/her name and may speak for up to 3 minutes. Comment cards are available for contact information in order for staff to follow up with each speaker.

Business meetings and workshops are open to the public and both are streamed live on the City’s YouTube channel. Meeting agendas for all public meetings are posted in advance of each meeting on the City’s website. All agendas can be viewed here.

If you wish to obtain more information regarding the City Council’s agenda, please contact the City Clerk's Office at 386-986-3713. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, persons needing assistance to participate in any of these proceedings should contact the City Clerk at 386-986-3713, at least 48 hours prior to the meeting.
